Executive Vice President

Sherry Frankel

Sherry Frankel is a New York State licensed real estate broker who began her real estate career in 1979 with AFA Asset Services, Inc. a real estate investment and asset management firm. At AFA, she focused on the analysis, acquisitions, financings and management of real estate investments for both private and institutional US and foreign investors. In her position as Vice President of AFA, she handled the financing of the assets and directed the leasing, property management and capital improvements of the portfolio that included commercial offices buildings, multifamily housing and retail stores. She also handled the disposition of assets whether by sale or conversion of multifamily rentals to condominium and cooperative forms of ownership.

In 1988 while serving as asset manager, Ms. Frankel found the need to improve the management and financial controls of AFA's clients buildings. From that experience she founded Caran Properties, Inc. a NYS licensed real estate management and brokerage firm. The relationship between the asset management and property management interests resulted in Caran's trademark intelligent and aggressive style of management. By managing the property with an owner's perspective, the buildings were more closely monitored and expediently serviced. Working closing with developers, Caran also opened and managed multifamily rental and condominium buildings.

In 2011 Ms. Frankel merged her company into Halstead Management Company, LLC, a division of Terra Holdings and she remains a Managing Director of Halstead.

Ms. Frankel was one of 12 women honored by the industry and Association of Real Estate Women (AREW) for "Outstanding Achievement in Real Estate" and her leadership in property management. Previously, she was selected by AREW as one of the Women Real Estate Leaders for the 21st Century. The Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, Inc. (ABO) has twice honored her with the Emma Lazarus Award as well as Woman of the Year for her contributions to the real estate industry and the New York business environment and Caran Properties was the recipient of their Management Company of the Year award. She was the recipient of the Real Estate Board of New York's (REBNY) Residential Management Community Service Award.

She is a member of REBNY and has served on their Residential Counsel. She is a member of AREW and has served on their Charitable Fund Board as the Women in Need (WIN) Chairperson. She is a member of the Rent Stabilization Association (RSA) board of directors and serves as Treasurer of the ABO board or directors.
